Getting Verified on SpainTrades
Verification is one of the most important trust signals on your SpainTrades profile. This guide explains exactly which documents are needed, what the admin team checks, and what the Verified badge communicates to customers.
Why Verification Matters
Expat customers in Spain are understandably cautious. Many have heard stories of unreliable tradespeople who disappear after taking a deposit. The Verified badge tells customers that SpainTrades has reviewed at least one identity or trade document for your business — giving them a baseline level of confidence before making contact.
Verified profiles also rank higher in search results, all else being equal. Getting verified is one of the highest-impact things you can do to improve your visibility.
What Documents You Need
You can become verified by uploading any one of the following:
- CIF certificate — for businesses registered as a Spanish SL or SA company
- NIF / autónomo registration — for sole traders registered with Hacienda
- Trade qualification certificate — a recognised qualification in your specific trade
- Public liability insurance certificate — a current policy in your business name
Documents must be current and clearly show your business name. Expired documents cannot be accepted.
How to Upload Your Documents
Log in to your tradesperson dashboard and go to Profile → Verification Documents. Click "Upload document", select your file (PDF, JPG or PNG, max 10 MB), and submit. You can upload multiple documents — more documentation strengthens your verification record.
What the Admin Team Checks
The SpainTrades admin team manually reviews every document submission. We check that:
- The document is current and not expired
- The name on the document matches your registered business name
- The document is legible and unaltered
We do not run credit checks or quality inspections. Verification confirms that you exist as a registered business — it is not an endorsement of the quality of your work.
How Long It Takes
The admin team reviews verification requests within 2–3 business days. You'll receive an email notification when your status changes. During busy periods this may take a little longer.
The Verified Badge
Once approved, a Verified badge appears prominently on your public profile and in search results. The badge tooltip tells customers: "SpainTrades has checked and approved at least one identity or trade document for this business."
It is one of the strongest trust signals available on the platform and is noticed by expat customers who have been burned by unverified traders in the past.
If Your Application Is Rejected
If a document is rejected, you'll receive an email explaining the reason. The most common causes are an expired document, a name mismatch, or an illegible image. Simply correct the issue and resubmit — there is no limit on resubmissions and no waiting period between attempts.
